Upper braces were used to correct this anterior crossbite as part of an early interceptive treatment. Before treatment, the lower tooth was always loose due to her bite. The bite was causing trauma to her tooth every time she closed her mouth and may have resulted in the need for a root canal or lose of the tooth. The position that the lower tooth was forced into was also preventing the gums from develop normally around it. When some of the teeth that come in first do not erupt in the correct places, the rest of the teeth also tend to erupt in the wrong places. She will probably need a second phase of treatment when all of her permanent teeth come in.
